Is the counterfeit check automatic?
No. The Safescan 50 is a manual UV detector: you inspect the note under its UV light yourself.
What can I check with it?
UV features on paper and polymer notes of any currency, and on credit cards, passports and other ID documents.
How does it differ from the Safescan 70?
Both use a 9 W UV lamp. The 70 adds 16 white LEDs for checking watermarks, microprint and metallic thread, and an automatic on/off sensor.
Can the lamp be replaced?
Yes. It uses the Safescan UV 50-70 replacement lamp. Warm-start technology is stated by the manufacturer to give up to three times longer lamp life.
