High-yield ink bottle system
The printer utilises the GI-70 PGBK pigment black ink bottle, which produces up to 6,000 pages in standard mode and up to 8,300 pages in economy mode. The hardware also supports optional colour printing by installing a separate CL-741 or high-yield CL-741XL cartridge. The black print head is the BH-70.
Paper handling and automatic duplexing
Paper feeding is split between a 250-sheet enclosed front cassette and a 100-sheet rear tray, giving a combined input capacity of 350 sheets of plain paper. The front cassette accepts media sizes including A4, A5, B5, and Letter, with paper weights ranging from 64 to 105 g/m². Integrated automatic duplex printing allows two-sided document production on plain paper without manual page flipping.
Network and system connectivity
Workstation connections are supported via high-speed USB 2.0, 10/100 Mbps wired Ethernet, and 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11b/g/n wireless networking. Direct wireless connections are available through Wireless Direct mode. Supported mobile applications include the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY application and Canon Print Service for Android. The printer driver is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7 SP1 operating systems.
Duty cycle and energy use
Designed for a monthly duty cycle of up to 15,000 pages, the unit has a recommended monthly print volume of 150 to 1,500 pages. Operating power consumption is approximately 13 W during printing, 0.8 W in standby mode, and 0.3 W when switched off.
