About this section

The electronic typewriter is not obsolete — it is simply irreplaceable for specific tasks. Filling in pre-printed government forms, typing on multi-part carbon copy documents, addressing envelopes, and completing official declarations that require typed entries in fixed fields are all jobs where a typewriter does what a computer and printer simply cannot. The paper goes in, you type in exactly the right spot, and you’re done. No alignment headaches, no driver issues, no jamming on thick media.

WOW Supplies carries Nakajima electronic typewriters — the most trusted typewriter brand in Malaysia — in two currently available models. The Nakajima AX-150 is a 13″ A4 typewriter for standard office form-filling and document typing. The Nakajima AX-160 adds an LCD display for easier editing and correction before committing to print — a useful upgrade for offices that type frequently.

The AE-610, AE-640, AE-800, and AE-830 models have been discontinued by Nakajima and are no longer available for sale. However, we still carry ribbons and correction tapes for these discontinued models — so if you own one and just need consumables to keep it running, we have you covered.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions — Electronic Typewriter Malaysia

Still have a question →
Why do offices in Malaysia still use typewriters?
Typewriters remain in active daily use for tasks that computers and printers handle poorly. The most common use cases in Malaysia are filling in pre-printed official forms — government applications, customs declarations, court documents, and department forms — where typed entries need to land precisely in fixed fields on the paper. A typewriter lets you position the carriage exactly where you need it and type directly onto the form. Trying to do the same with a computer and printer requires formatting every form individually, which is time-consuming and often imprecise. Typewriters are also used for multi-part carbon copy forms, envelopes, and any media that cannot be fed through a standard office printer.
What is the difference between the Nakajima AX-150 and AX-160?
Both are 13" A4 electronic typewriters from Nakajima. The main difference is the AX-160 includes an LCD display — this lets you see and edit your typed text on screen before it prints, making corrections easier and reducing wasted paper from typing errors. The AX-150 types directly without a preview display. For offices that type forms occasionally, the AX-150 is sufficient. If you type frequently and want the convenience of on-screen correction, the AX-160 is the better investment.
Are the Nakajima AE-610, AE-640, AE-800, and AE-830 still available?
No — the AE-610, AE-640, AE-800, and AE-830 have been discontinued by Nakajima and are no longer available for purchase. If you currently own one of these models and need ribbons or correction tapes to keep it running, we still carry compatible consumables for these machines. For a replacement machine, the AX-150 or AX-160 are the current available models.
Do you sell typewriter ribbons and correction tapes?
Yes — we carry typewriter ribbons and correction tapes (lift-off tape) for Nakajima models including the AX-150, AX-160, AE-610, AE-640, AX-220, AE-800, and AE-830, as well as Olympia typewriters. Ribbons from RM30 and correction tape from RM27 per box. We also carry the Daisy Wheel (Prestige Pica 10) for compatible models. Contact us or check the product listings on this page for available consumable options.
Do you repair typewriters?
