Value counting is a note counter feature that calculates the total monetary value of the notes counted — not just the piece count. For example, feed in 200 pieces of RM5 notes and the machine reports both the quantity (200 pcs) and the total amount (RM1,000). This eliminates a separate calculation step and reduces human error when reconciling cash.

What is the difference between preset value counting and mixed denomination value counting?
These are two different levels of value counting and it is important to understand the difference before buying.
Preset value counting — You manually sort notes by denomination first, then set the denomination on the machine before counting each batch. The machine counts the pieces and multiplies by the preset value to give the total. For example, set RM10, feed 50 notes, machine reports 50 pcs × RM10 = RM500. You then repeat for each denomination separately. This method works well for businesses that are comfortable sorting notes by hand before counting. The Primus PRC-555 (RM1,350) and Safescan 2850 (RM2,878) work this way.
Mixed denomination value counting — The machine automatically identifies each note's denomination as it feeds through, counts pieces per denomination, and calculates the grand total in a single pass — no pre-sorting required. Stack your mixed notes, press start, and the screen shows a full breakdown: e.g. RM50 × 10 pcs = RM500, RM10 × 20 pcs = RM200, Total = RM700. Which type of value counting do I actually need?
It depends on how your cash comes in. If your business receives mixed denominations in every transaction — retail shops, F&B outlets, petrol stations, event ticketing, market stalls — a mixed denomination counter saves significant time at end-of-day cash up. You dump all notes in unsorted and get a full breakdown instantly. If you mostly handle single denomination batches — for example counting RM10 notes from a till tray that has already been sorted — the preset method is perfectly practical and much more affordable. No need to pay for mixed counting capability you will never use.
