What is the difference between a whiteboard, noticeboard, and magnetic board?
A whiteboard has a smooth dry-erase surface for writing with whiteboard markers — used for meetings, brainstorming, and presentations. A noticeboard (also called a pinboard or corkboard) has a soft surface for pinning notices, memos, and documents with thumbtacks or push pins. A magnetic board combines both — it has a hard surface that accepts whiteboard markers and also holds magnets, so documents can be attached with magnetic clips instead of pins. Glass boards are a premium version of magnetic whiteboards with a tempered glass surface that is easier to clean and more resistant to ghosting over time.
What size board should I get for my office or meeting room?
For a standard meeting room, a 4' x 3' or 4' x 6' whiteboard is the most common size — large enough to be readable from across the room but not overwhelming in a medium-sized space. For a small office or personal desk area, a 2' x 3' board is sufficient for notes and task lists. For large training rooms or presentation halls, 4' x 8' or larger boards are more appropriate.
